Our Approach

Catherine J. Johnson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Administration with an emphasis in Criminal Justice from Park University.  She spent over ten years with the Kansas City Missouri Police Department (KCPD) with the majority of her time assigned as a detective in the (Adult) Sex Crimes Section of the Special Victims Unit. She has had over 400 hours of training in advanced police studies, specifically in sex crimes investigations and crisis intervention.

Catherine has developed multiple training courses on best practices for the investigation of adult sexual assault. These trainings have been delivered across the country and around the world and to include the U.S. Virgin Islands; Ghana; and Botswana.

Catherine has been published in peer reviewed journals, contributed to a text book and has written for on-line law enforcement magazines.  In addition to her technical writing, Catherine has been working on a series of fiction novels known as the City of Fountains series.  These novels take place in the city where Catherine lived and worked.

Catherine has received several awards in recognition for her excellence, commitment, dedication, and tireless devotion to victims of sexual assault. Catherine received a Certificate of Appreciation from Crimestoppers; a Meritorious Service Award; two Certificate of Commendations; the CIT Officer of the Year Award from the Kansas City Missouri Police Department; a Visionary Award from St. Luke’s Hospital Forensic Care Program in 2009; CIT Officer of the Year from NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill); and the Sara Andrasek Memorial Award from Platte County Prosecutor’s Office.
