TIA – This is Africa

We landed on time in Johannesburg South Africa. The flight was not near as bad as I thought it would be, although I also did not get the writing done that I had hoped I would. For some reason I had a difficult time focusing.

As one of my travel companions said, TIA… This is Africa… so there had to be a little hiccup. The flight we were supposed to take to Gaborone was overbooked so we were taken to a nice hotel and treated to dinner. I discovered a new beer (Windhook) and thoroughly enjoyed the company.

This morning we were up before 5 and at the airport by 545 to ensure we made our 8am flight.  I’m sitting on a prop plane flying high over Africa as I write this.  My mind is racing.  What kind of course can we develop?  How much different are the participants (they don’t want to be called students) going to be from the ones at home.  How can I take this experience and write about it for a professional journal?  Can I find a story for a book in this trip? One of my travel companions is a cultural psychologist…I see many conversations about this very topic over the next few days.
